ČMŽO - elektronika, a leading manufacturer and integrator of electronic systems for railway vehicles, has chosen LAPP’s portfolio of ÖLFLEX® TRAIN cables for its latest project: the ALSTOM LINT engine unit series 27 and 41 in the LEO Express trains.

Since autumn 2019, the LEO Express LINT engine unit series 27 and 41 have been newly equipped with VZ1 MIREL train protection equipment, RM2 MIREL electronic speedometer and 230 V sockets with USB. These modified LINT engine units will be used for a number of regional networks in the Czech Republic. LAPP’s railway products were used across the board for the whole train protection system, in the electronic speedometer and for the installation of the USB sockets.

The ÖLFLEX® TRAIN 331 600V single-core cable was installed to acquire operating signals from the unit and also for the subsequent registration of those signals by the RM2 electronic speedometer. It also supplies the power for the VZ1 and the RM2 MIREL train protection system while also grounding the 230 V circuit converters.

The shielded ÖLFLEX® TRAIN 345C 600V cable is used to connect the VZ1 MIREL train protection system components. The train protection system is designed to monitor the alertness of the train driver, transmit the data from the trackside infrastructure to the train driver’s station, and to control the speed limits according to the maximum design speed of the train, specified speed and data received from the trackside infrastructure.

Richard Olle, CEO at ČMŽO – elektronika, says “we chose LAPP because we were looking for a partner who’s not only capable of delivering the right cables quickly and reliably, but also help us with the optimisation of our cable solutions for future projects. This also includes cable accessories such as bushings, connectors and labels that meet the required standards.”

LAPP offers a wide range of certified products for the railway industry, covering the entire product range from cables and accessories to design and production of complete tailor-made solutions. The main advantages include LAPP’s own production facility, low minimum order quantities and stock available for deliveries as fast as one week, helping customers to minimise waste whilst also allowing them to respond faster to the market’s ever-demanding needs.
